The Municipality of Thames Centre was formed on January 1, 2001 with the amalgamation of the former Township of West Nissouri and the former Township of North Dorchester, covering 434 square kilometres of land.  The Municipality has a current population of 14,650.

The central location of Thames Centre is among one of its biggest advantages, being located at the east end of the County of Middlesex, along Highway 401 between 402 and 403, with connection to the Central and Eastern United States.

Thames Centre Map

Situated in the central part of Southwestern Ontario, Thames Centre is surrounded by Lake Huron to the north, Greater Toronto Area (GTA) to the east, Lake Erie to the south, and the Detroit, Michigan, United States, border to the west.  There are three major United States border crossings within a two hour drive of Thames Centre.

Within an one hour drive there are a mix of mid sized urban cities with diverse cultural populations, as well as a number of smaller towns and flourishing agricultural communities.  Thames Centre's close proximity to the City of London, population 350,000, and 401 Ontario Highway has stimulated considerable growth, both residentially and commercially in the prime settlement regions:  Dorchester and Thorndale.

Residents enjoy affordable homes in safe communities, with one of the more moderate climates of the country, and there are many various opportunities for businesses in our five industrial/business areas within the Municipality.  Areas such as Davinci Business Park, Thorndale Business Park, Dorchester Industrial Park, Donnybrook Industrial Park and Putnam Industrial Park, boasts many opportunities for new and existing businesses.
