The Municipality of Thames Centre Official Plan is administered by the Planning Department. The Official Plan is a policy document adopted by Council that identifies a vision for the long term land use of the Municipality. At the present time, the Municipality is completing its first ever Official Plan, a draft of which can be accessed from this site using the links below. In addition to the Official Plan the Planning Department also prepares Secondary Plans which plan for the development of specific areas within the Municipality.

The Municipality of Thames Centre Comprehensive Zoning By-law is prepared under the direction of the Planning Department. This by-law implements the Official Plan policies and identifies permitted uses for each property within the Municipality along with restrictions and building specifications.
The Planning Department deals with applications for Rezonings, Official Plan Amendments, Plans of Subdivision - Condominiums, Site Plan Agreements, Minor Variances and Severances. The Planning Department also prepares statistical information such as population counts and projections, inventories of industrial and commercial properties and updates development application information.
