Municipality Warns Residents About Water Freezing Issues
Residents at Risk of Frozen Pipes Can Prevent Damage by Ensuring Steady Flow of Water
THAMES CENTRE – The Municipality of Thames Centre would like to advise residents to be aware of the risk of freezing issues with their water services.
Due to prolonged periods with extremely cold temperatures, some water pipes in the community may be prone to freezing. Damages caused by frozen pipes can be significant and costly.
If the pipes in their home are prone to freezing, residents can prevent interruption of water services by ensuring a cold water tap is left running with a slow, steady drip. Sustained water flow prevents water from freezing in pipes.
This is often the simplest, and most effective solution to prevent frozen pipes. Residents can also insulate pipes positioned near exterior walls, or take steps to ensure warm air is circulated around plumbing.
Residents with questions, concerns, or issues regarding their water services can contact Environmental Services Superintendent Kevin Willson (at KWillson@thamescentre.on.ca or 519-268-7334 ext. 745).
