Thames Centre Wins Budget Award

Budget 2025 Wins GFOA Distinguished Budget Presentation Award

THAMES CENTRE – For the second consecutive year the Municipality of Thames Centre has been awarded the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award by the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA).

The Distinguished Budget Presentation Awards program was established in 1984 to challenge local governments “to prepare budget documents of the very highest quality.” To earn award recognition budget documents “must meet program criteria and excel as a policy document, financial plan, operations guide, and communication tool.”

Thames Centre is one of only 25 Ontario municipalities to win the award.

“We’re proud to have won this award for providing Thames Centre residents with a budget that meets the highest standards for clarity and transparency,” said Mayor Sharron McMillan. “I’d like to congratulate our staff for increasing budget transparency, and for improving the level of community engagement that goes into building the budget.”

The 2025 Budget document is available online at https://www.thamescentre.on.ca/budget. As part of Thames Centre’s redesigned, more user-friendly website, residents will be able to find budget documents from previous years on this page.

Public consultations on the 2026 Budget are currently underway. Residents can participate in the process for shaping next year’s budget by visiting https://tinyurl.com/TCBudgetSurvey26 and completing this year’s online budget survey.
