The Municipality of Thames Centre has partnered with Hillside Kennels Animal Control to provide animal care and control services.   They can be reached at 519-469-3247

Animal Services

Residents in Thames Centre are permitted to keep up to 3 dogs per dwelling unit.  Any resident wishing to have more than 3 dogs will need to apply for a kennel license.  For more information please visit our kennel license

 


Dog Barking Incidents

If a dog is barking excessively or persistently, please contact the By-law Compliance Officer and they will provide information on the process.   Fill out a By-law Complaint Form

 


Dogs Running At Large 

The Animal Control By-law 63-2022 , prohibits dogs running at large within the Municipality. 

If you see a dog running at large please contact the By-law Compliance Officer at 519-268-7334 ext. 240.  Should it be outside of normal business hours (Mon. to Fri. 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.) please contact Hillside Kennels 519-469-3247.

Dog Bites

If you have been bitten by a dog, seek medical assistance immediately.  It is important to report a dog bite immediately to the by-law compliance officer:

Reporting the incident ensures verification of rabies vaccination status.  Rabies, if left untreated can be fatal.


Kennel License 

You require a kennel license if you have, or are looking to run, a kennel on your property. To learn more please visit our Kennel Licenses page.


Animal Cruelty or Neglect

To report cases of animal cruelty or neglect, please contact the provincial Animal Welfare Services (AWS) at 1-833-926-4625


Livestock Claims

Ontario Wildlife Damage Compensation Program provides financial assistance to eligible owners whose livestock or poultry has been killed as a result of wildlife predication.  For more information please see the Livestock Claims page
