Yard Waste
Our Fall Leaf and Yard Waste Program Begins November 4 to 8, 2024
Thames Centre offers several convenient programs to help residents manage their yard waste, including the Leaf and Yard Waste Collection, Tree Drop-Off, and Oversized Waste Collection Programs. When these services are not available, residents can take advantage of the landfill site for disposing of yard waste, electronics, scrap metal, tires, and construction debris. The landfill, located at 2015 Crampton Drive, is open Wednesdays (8:30am - 5pm) and Saturdays (8:30am - 3:30pm).
Leaf & Yard Waste Program
The Thames Centre Leaf and Yard Waste Collection Program runs in the fall (usually November) for a week, on your regular collection day. Bags must be out by 7am.
All leaves must be in biodegradable paper yard waste bags. No bag tag is required, and plastic bags will not be accepted. For those wishing to dispose of yard waste on other times during the year, we encourage residents to visit our landfill site located at 2015 Crampton Drive.
Bundles Brush & Branches
Please place any brush or tree branches in securely tied bundled no larger than 1 metre in length.
Grass Clippings
Thames Centre does not accept grass clippings in any of the waste collection programs. It is recommended that you leave grass clippings on the lawn so they can break down naturally. This is called Grasscycling. This helps return nutrients back into the soil, and reduces the need to fertilize and water your lawn.
Tree Drop Off Program
Get rid of your old Christmas tree in a sustainable way with Thames Centre! We collect natural trees for reuse starting from December 26, 2024 to January 4, 2025 at the following drop-off locations:
- FlightExec Centre (2066 Dorchester Road)
- Thorndale Community Centre (265 Queen Street)
Just make sure to remove all decorations, wiring, strands, and plastic from your tree before drop-off. If your tree is longer than 10 feet, please cut it in half.
