Water Flushing Program

The Municipality of Thames Centre will be conducting the Spring Water Flushing Program during the week of Monday, May 11th to Friday, May 15th, 2026.

Flushing will take place between the hours of 8am and 4pm.

 

Schedule for Monday, May 11:

Dorchester: Water flushing will commence with locations on the north side of the river in Dorchester (Catherine St, Marion St, Minnie St, etc.)
Thorndale: Water flushing will commence on the east end of Thorndale (Meadowbrook Lane, Foxborough Pl, Upper Queen St, etc.)
Tuesday, May 12
In Thorndale, everything east of Temperance Street has been completed.
Today work will continue down King Street into Wye Creek Subdivision and Rosewood Subdivision.
In Dorchester, everything north of the river has been flushed.
Today, work begins west of Dorchester Road (Tiner Subdivision, Boardwalk Subdivision, Pinehurst Drive, Parkview Drive, Pondview Court, etc.)

Wednesday, May 13

In Thorndale, everything east of Brooker Trail has been completed.

Flushing will continue in Wye Creek Subdivision and Rosewood Subdivision.

In Dorchester, everything north of the river has been flushed, as well as everything west of Dorchester Road (except Tiner Subdivision.)

Tiner Subdivision will be flushed Wednesday. Flushing will begin east of Dorchester Road.

Thursday, May 14

In Dorchester, the subdivisions of Valleyview I and II, Quail Run Drive, and Turnberry Drive will be flushed on May 14.  All other areas of Dorchester have been completed.

Flushing has been completed in Thorndale.

Friday, May 15

The Spring Water Flushing Program is now complete!

About Water Flushing

Water system flushing is done to remove any sediment or stagnant water from the distribution system, and to test fire hydrant operation. These steps are being taken to improve the overall water quality within the distribution system and to ensure the delivery of the highest quality water possible.
As in the past, we suggest that residents switch water softeners to “bi-pass” and avoid doing laundry during the flushing times. Discoloured water may be observed and has the potential to stain clothing. If laundry has been stained during this period the Environmental Services Department has a wash additive available to remove the stains.
Once the flushing program has been completed, we ask that a cold water tap be turned on and let it run for approximately 2 (two) to 3 (three) minutes to flush out any discoloured water that may have accumulated in your water connection. If clean water is not experienced after this time, shut off the tap and repeat after 1 (one) hour.
Due to the unpredictability of weather, operator availability (emergency situations), and the increasing size of the water systems it can be a challenge to know when a specific area will be flushed.
