Information for Voters

The Municipality will once again be using Internet and Telephone Voting for the 2026 Municipal Election.

This page provides everything voters need to know to prepare, vote confidently, and access assistance, if required.

A person is entitled to be an elector in an election held in the Municipality, if on voting day the person is:

  • a Canadian Citizen
  • at least 18 years old
  • residing in the Municipality or an owner or tenant of land in the Municipality, or the spouse of such owner or tenant; and
  • is not otherwise prohibited from voting

We encourage residents to confirm that you are on the Voters List as soon as possible. Being on the list will make your voting experience easier, and help you avoid a trip to the municipal office to be added closer to the election.

Visit www.RegisterToVoteON.ca to:

  • Confirm you're on the list to vote
  • Update your electoral information
  • Add yourself to the list if you've recently moved or turned 18

The Municipality of Thames Centre has selected Intelivote Systems Inc. to provide the Internet and Telephone Voting system for the 2026 Municipal Election.

Intelivote is a Canadian company that specializes in election and voting technology and has provided secure voting solutions for Ontario municipalities for many years. They understand that voters can’t always predict where they will be on Election Day and that’s why they’ve developed “Anywhere Voting”. Whether at home, work, or abroad our easy to use telephone, wireless device, and internet voting system can be used anywhere in the world.

About the Voting System

The Intelivote voting system:

  • Allows eligible electors to vote securely online or by telephone
  • Uses encryption and security safeguards to protect voter privacy and ballot secrecy
  • Prevents multiple votes from being cast by the same elector
  • Is tested and verified prior to and during the election period

Election results are tabulated electronically and reported after voting closes.

Privacy and Integrity

  • Votes are anonymous and cannot be linked to an individual elector
  • The Town never sees how any individual voted
  • The system is reviewed and supported by trained election officials throughout the voting period
