2025/26 – King Street Storm Sewer Upgrade and Road Urbanization
For Information on Road Closures, visit the Municipal511 page.
Construction Date: Anticipated July 2026 – November 2026, with any remaining work to be completed in 2027
Scope: The project scope involves upgrading King Street between Nissouri Road and the Wye Creek Bridge to meet Middlesex County urban design standards. This reconstruction features roadway adjustments, including modifying the elevation of King Street to improve drainage and water shedding toward the road surface where feasible. Additionally, the design incorporates new concrete curb and gutter infrastructure, a dedicated centre turn lane, and 1.5 meter sidewalks complete with tactile warning plates at intersections. Pedestrian safety upgrades include a new crosswalk at Brooker Trail / Aspen Circle, alongside the installation of electrical conduits and pedestrian pole bases at the Nissouri Road intersection to accommodate future pedestrian-activated traffic signals. Finally, subsurface utility improvements will feature an upgraded storm sewer system, including new Private Drain Connections (PDCs) extended to each property line.
Project Staging: This project will be divided into three stages.
- Stage 1 (Brooker Trail to Nissouri Road): Focuses on core underground and road work up to the base asphalt layer. Crews will make every effort to minimize disruptions at the Nissouri Road / King Street intersection until active work within the intersection is required. Target Completion: 2026.
- Stage 2 (Brooker Trail to Wye Creek Bridge): Focuses on core underground and road work up to the base asphalt layer for the remaining section. Target Completion: 2026.
- Stage 3 (Final Restoration): Applies the final topcoat asphalt and line painting across the entire project length. Target Completion: 2026.
