Highway 401 and Dorchester Road Bridge Replacement and Interchange Improvements

 

The Ministry of Transportation, Ontario (MTO) has awarded Green Infrastructure Partners Inc. (GIP) in partnership with Dillon Consulting Limited (Dillon) the Design-Build (DB) for the construction of the Highway 401 & Dorchester Road Bridge Replacement and Interchange Improvements in the Municipality of Thames Centre, Middlesex County.

The proposed improvements include:

  • Replacement of the Dorchester Road Bridge with a new 4 lane bridge featuring 2 through lanes and two speed change lanes.
  • Slight realignment of the bridge and Dorchester Road to the east.
  • Replacement of the existing diamond interchange with a Parclo A-2 interchange. This new interchange design allows for potential future additional ramps and highway expansion.

Timeline

  • April 2, 2024 – October 2024 Construction Commencement (Dorchester Road closure at Highway 401)
  • April 13, 2024 Bridge Demolition
  • Summer 2024 Girder Erection
  • July 2024 - October 2024 Highway 401 eastbound on/off ramp closure
  • June 2025 Anticipated Project Completion
