Thames Centre Firefighters Organizing Alarm Exchange Program at Community Breakfast Event

New Dual Smoke/Carbon Monoxide Detectors to be Provided in Thorndale

THAMES CENTRE – The Thames Centre Fire Department will be providing new dual smoke/carbon monoxide detectors to local residents at their community breakfast event on Sunday, May 25th.

Residents can exchange broken or defective alarms for a new alarm. They can also provide a photo showing that their current alarm is at least 8 years old and they will be eligible to be provided with a new one.

Over 100 alarms will be distributed in total. Supplies are limited, so alarms will be provided on a first come, first served basis.

The hardwired dual alarms come with 10-year lifetime batteries – meaning batteries do not need to be replaced over the 10-year life of the product.

In addition to serving breakfast and running the alarm exchange program, the events will feature the inflatable fire safety house, and kids will be able to tour the fire station, trucks, and equipment.

Residents who need help checking their batteries or with installing their alarms can also sign up for assistance at the event, or reach out to fireadmin@thamescentre.on.ca.
