Thames Centre Streamlines Processes for Planning and Building Permit Applications

Cloudpermit Software to Simplify, Accelerate Review Process for Applications

THAMES CENTRE – The Municipality of Thames Centre is pleased to announce that we have integrated Cloudpermit software into our system to simplify and accelerate the submission and tracking of building permits and planning applications.

Cloudpermit is an online system designed to streamline municipal application management processes. It is already in use in several neighbouring municipalities, and it is the recommended software of the Association of Municipalities of Ontario (AMO).

“We are always looking for ways to make local government simpler,” noted Mayor Sharron McMillan. “Cloudpermit is used in neighboring municipalities, so we are confident it will make the application process faster and easier for local residents and businesses.”

Existing users can use their current accounts to access Cloudpermit. Others will have to create an account.

Having an account will allow users to track their applications, book inspections, and submit their project’s plans and drawings electronically. Incomplete applications can be saved and completed at a later date.

“The integration of Cloudpermit is another major step in the modernization our service delivery,” said CAO David Barrick. “It streamlines the entire application process by improving internal coordination and delivering faster turnaround times for residents and builders. This is about making it easier to get projects moving, while ensuring greater transparency and efficiency at every stage.”

Paper Applications Still Accepted

While the new online applications process promises faster service, paper applications are still being accepted. The Planning and Development Services Department will continue to accept applications submitted in person or via drop boxes at the Thorndale Lions Community Centre and the Municipal Office in Dorchester.

In-person or on the phone customer service is available at Municipal Office from Monday to Friday between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. If discussing a proposal or a preliminary submission review, it is recommended to book an appointment by emailing building@thamescentre.on.ca or planning@thamescentre.on.ca.

Pre-Consultation Requests are encouraged to ensure your application is complete and meets all applicable law, resulting in a quicker review time.
