Firefighter Recruitment

The Role of a Volunteer Firefighter

Firefighting is one of the most diverse challenging professions known today. We are not only dealing with fires, but a wide variety of emergency responses, from medical emergencies, hazardous material spills to Motor Vehicle Collisions. Our business is not only physically demanding but also mentally. Some of the situations we attend to are not for everyone. Dealing with the emotions of death and dying, heart attacks, entrapment, to list a few can be extremely challenging to firefighters. You need to ask yourself; how do I think I would deal with one of these situations listed above? We are all a “Family” we work together, we train together, and we socialize on occasion together. Our family is just not restricted to the team, but the families of the team too. Other responsibilities of the Fire Services are fire prevention and public education. We take pride in ensuring the residents of Thames Centre feel safe when our services are needed.
