Landfill & Household Special Waste

The landfill is located at 2015 Crampton Dr. and is open to residents of Thames Centre Wednesdays from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm and Saturdays from 8:30 am to 3:30 pm.
The landfill site is located in the southern portion of Thames Centre at 2015 Crampton Drive. Click this link to view a Google map of the landfill site.

Recycling & Garbage

Thames Centre provides curbside recycling collection on a weekly basis all year round through our Blue Box program.  Since 2007, our switch to weekly recycling collection has increased winter collection tonnage by 16%

Drinking Water

Our Municipal drinking water comes from lakes, rivers, streams or underground sources (aquifers) located across the province. All of these sources of water are linked in a watershed through the water cycle. Drinking water sources can be easily contaminated. Long-term problems can develop that are costly or even impossible to correct

Wastewater

Delivering drinking water is only the first half of the story.  For customers not on septic systems, Thames Centre is also responsible for taking wastewater away, treating it, and for discharging it safely into the environment.

The municipality owns and operates two municipal wastewater systems in the community of Dorchester.  A new wastewater system will soon be coming to the community of Thorndale.  The first phase is scheduled to be constructed from 2009 until 2011.

Stormwater

Stormwater is water that results from precipitation and which occurs immediately following rainfall or as a result of snowmelt. Stormwater catchbasins, inlets, pipes and retention ponds act together to manage the flow of stormwater.

Energy Management

In compliance with the Green Energy Act, 2009 and O. Reg. 397/11 the Municipality of Thames Centre is committed to reporting its annual energy use and greenhouse gas emissions.
